Chanoir

Alberto Vejarano, known as CHANOIR, is a French-Colombian artist, born in Bogotá in 1976, who lives and works in Paris. Trained at the Beaux-Arts in Paris and influenced by Keith Haring and André, he created his feline alter ego “CHA” in the mid-1990s. Acrylic, pastel, graffiti, and animation shape a joyful, expressive, immediately recognizable Pop universe.

His cats, with simple forms, bold colors, and changing expressions, fuse Pop Art, Free Figuration, graffiti, cartoons, and kawaii aesthetics. Inspired by Steinlen’s “Le Chat Noir” poster, CHANOIR turns the cat into a universal language close to the logo, tag, and emoji. Each character conveys an emotion and forms an immediate bond with the public.

Active internationally, including at Miami’s Wynwood Walls, he has expanded into performance, installation, photography, video, and design. His works are learned yet popular, joyful, and highly identifiable: a contemporary signature that communicates instantly.
