Iris Kufert Rivo

Iris Kufert-Rivo is an American artist, born in 1961, who is based in Jersey City, New Jersey, where she works from her studio at Mana Contemporary. A graduate of Skidmore College and Bard College’s MFA program, she creates geometric abstractions in which rectilinear forms, bold colors, and layered planes balance structure, intuition, and freedom.

Using a straight edge, tape, and palette knife, she builds rigorous rectilinear forms that are liberated by color. Structural order meets play, intuition, and chromatic vibration. Her family history of immigration and exile, together with travels through Europe and Israel, informs her interest in patterns, textiles, and the archaeology of place.

Exhibited in New York, Los Angeles, and at international fairs including Art Miami, her work is held in private and corporate collections. Her paintings achieve a rare balance between visual architecture, memory, and the sensual power of color, giving each composition a presence that feels disciplined, radiant, and emotionally alive.
