Ron Agam

Ron Agam is a French-Israeli artist, born in France in 1958 and based in New York. Raised between Paris and Rehovot, Israel, he grew up in direct contact with art in the studio of his father, Yaacov Agam, a major figure in kinetic art. Before devoting himself to painting, he built an acclaimed career as a fine-art photographer and founded both an art press and the Artlife Gallery in SoHo.

His practice brings together geometric abstraction, optical investigation, color, and movement. From kinetic compositions to saturated color fields, he uses lines, squares, relief, and depth effects to turn looking into an active experience. Informed by photography and digital tools, his highly personal language explores perception, time, and the invisible.

His work has been shown at New York’s 92nd Street Y, the Joseph Slifka Center at Yale University, and Opera Gallery in Hong Kong and Dubai. Works by Agam entered the permanent collection of New York’s National September 11 Memorial & Museum. Appointed a Chevalier of the French Legion of Honor in 2008, he continues to develop a luminous, ambitious body of work instantly recognizable for its visual energy.
