Sasha Ginsburg

Sacha Ginsburg is a German painter, born in Magdeburg in 1958, raised in Riga, and based in Osnabrück since 1991, where he lives and works. Trained with Kurts Fridrihsons, Abram Bikov, and Vitaly Karkunov, he creates work shaped by Jewish roots, European memory, and Surrealist imagination. His dense color gives each scene a distinctive narrative presence.

His figurative work is distinguished by portraits with Surrealist inflections, dense color, and a marked interest in precious materials, particularly gold. Faces, biblical figures, and symbols become vehicles for reflection on identity, transmission, and human dignity.

His works have been exhibited in Jerusalem, Toronto, Berlin, Munich, and at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg. Ginsburg’s painting combines accomplished draftsmanship with symbolic imagination, offering collectors a strong narrative presence rooted in history yet open to intimate and contemporary interpretation.
