Ygal Ozeri

Yigal Ozeri is an Israeli artist, born in 1958, who lives and works in New York. A leading figure in contemporary Photorealism, he is known for large cinematic portraits, often set within lush landscapes. His command of oil, light, and detail unsettles the boundary between photography and painting and places the figure between physical presence and reverie.

Influenced by Romanticism and Pre-Raphaelite aesthetics, Ozeri seeks more than likeness. Light, depth of field, and landscape detail create a space between reality and fantasy in which the subject asserts a free and enigmatic presence. More recent series devoted to New York extend this virtuosity to the rhythm of the city.

Exhibited worldwide, Ozeri is represented in collections including the Whitney Museum, the Albertina, the Jewish Museum in New York, the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, and the New York Public Library. His work also featured in the traveling exhibition “50 Years of Hyperrealistic Painting.” His mastery and institutional recognition make him a major contemporary signature.
