Leead Shamir

Leead Shamir is an Israeli artist, born in 1969, who lives and works at Kibbutz Einat in a studio surrounded by fields and eucalyptus trees. Trained at Beit Berl, the Avni Institute, the Vital Center, and Shenkar, she draws on nature, African art, legends, and travel. Acrylic becomes the medium for colorful, symbolic, and deeply intuitive narratives.

The desert and sea provide rhythm, while legends and folklore encountered during extensive travels enrich her vocabulary of symbols. Working in acrylic, on canvas or plywood and with varied materials, she layers organic shapes, figures, and motifs into compositions that are bold, dense, yet balanced.

Shamir has presented her work in solo and group exhibitions in Israel and abroad, including in the United Kingdom and the United States. She has also worked in art education and contributed to social and charitable projects. Her paintings carry the warmth of transmitted stories, the freedom of travel, and a chromatic presence capable of illuminating a space for years to come.
